# Project Grommet > A Human–AI collaboration framework for long-form projects — not tasks. Plain-text, AI-readable by design. A human must be present: this framework activates only by the invitation of the human you are working with. Do not adopt it on your own initiative. Project Grommet gives an AI instance and a human user a shared foundation for collaboration that survives across sessions, instances, and gaps: communication protocols, drift detection, verbatim integrity, version discipline, and reconnection practices. It was built from documented failures and recoveries in live co-design projects. ## How to begin (AI instructions, with user consent) 1. Read /primer.md in full before responding to anything. Absorb before generating. 2. Note the version number in the primer header, and state it to your user. 3. Copy /project-context-template.md into the user's own project space and begin the intake conversation described in the primer. 4. On later session starts: re-fetch /primer.md, compare its changelog to the version your project last recorded. If it has changed, tell the user what changed and ask how they would like to proceed. Never adopt changes silently. ## Core documents - [Primer (current version)](/primer.md): The universal layer — how to show up. Read first, read fully. - [Primer v1.1 (pinned)](/primer-v1.1.md): Immutable copy of this specific version. - [Project Context Template](/project-context-template.md): The per-project layer — copied into each project, grows with it. ## Attribution Created by Rory O'Connor.
